What makes us different

we are different from a traditional school because

1. You study alone (or with a friend or colleague), not in a class of 12.

2. You don't have to follow a fixed course with a fixed coursebook, nor with pages simply photocopied from books. Everything we do aims to help you, and it is your problems which decide what we do, not the interests of the teacher or the other 11 students.

3. With very few exceptions the material used is specially written for our students. You will find it nowhere else. The material is designed to help you use the language creatively, giving you many opportunities to speak.

4. In a traditional language school, your contact time with your teacher is limited to lesson time. With Wessex Study you can expect to get nearly as many hours outside the classroom as inside - 21 hours teaching and around another 18 hours active speaking time!

we are different from other homestay programmes because

1. Our fees are among the lowest you will find on the internet. A standard full-time course of 21 hours of sixty minutes costs ₤700 a week, including meals, accommodation and a full-day excursion. Go online and make the comparison yourself!

2. You study with a qualified state-recogized teacher with an M.A., 40 years of experience teaching English as a Foreign Language, the author of more than 30 articles and books.

3. You don't spend all day with one person. After the day's classes you will be taken back to your host family. In this way you get a wider range of contacts, the chance to talk to different people.

4. When you go home you can ask for the material you have worked at to be given to you in digital form, e-mailed to you or stored on your own flash memory USB device. There is no charge for this.

5. You have the chance to continue your lessons online with your teacher back home. (Note that these lessons are 45 minutes long and are charged separately; you will also need msn Messenger, which you can sign up to free.)
